Description of the incident location
The Cement Slobodka Mounds, a monument of the settled population of the early Iron Age, consisting of 4 separate mounds, located in the southeastern part of the eponymous neighborhood in Kerch, 0.91 km from the coastline.
After the occupation of the Crimean peninsula, russia began implementing large-scale projects for the construction of infrastructure facilities, including the Tauride Highway (a 253.5 km long road "Kerch - Feodosia - Belogorsk - Simferopol - Bakhchisaray - Sevastopol") and the Kerch Bridge, which connects the occupied territory with the Krasnodar Territory of the russian federation.
In the period from March to May 07, 2017, through illegal archaeological excavations as part of the construction of the so-called "Taurida highway," the archaeological site of the Cement Slobodka I mound group was destroyed and the obtained valuables were seized.
