On June 17, 2022, he visited the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, the so-called "DNR", on a working visit, where he signed a cooperation agreement. Also, the Republic of Buryatia accepted up to 400 citizens from the occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine and provides assistance to the volunteer corps of Buryatia to assist in the organization of the region's work with Ukrainian citizens displaced from the so-called "L/DPR".
