By investing significant resources in it, the russian authorities are trying to destabilize Ukraine and the world, influence political processes and shape public opinion in different regions of the planet in their own invasive interests.

Under Ernst's leadership, Channel One actively covers the topic of the so-called SMO, airs many politicized programs, and creates and distributes fakes. Ernst personally calls the russian military participating in the war against Ukraine heroes in his interviews and notes that "the heroes of the special operation take up most of the airtime." He is a co-author/producer of a number of films, the filming and plots of which are authorized and agreed upon with putin personally. In particular, the film project "Challenge" received putin's written consent. For this film, in 2023, Ernst personally received state awards from putin during the ceremony of presenting state awards and awarding heroes of labor on russia Day. Ernst personally thanked putin, calling the mission of the film - the affirmation of russia's space superiority in the world. At the same time, he noted the symbolism of the film's title, saying: "Our heroes receive a "Challenge" from space, history has thrown down a challenge to our country, and we have accepted this challenge." Ernst came up with the initiative to organize a new song contest in russia, primarily for the BRICS countries, to replace Eurovision, the organizers of which have banned russians from participating in it.
