He systematically supports russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, russia's annexation of Ukrainian Crimea, putin's policies and the kremlin regime. On February 24, 2022, he called for russia's recognition of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" and supported russia's invasion of Ukraine, and has repeatedly criticized russian cultural figures who left russia because of the war against Ukraine. Publicly calls for the occupation of the Ukrainian cities of Odesa and Mykolaiv by russia. He has been officially supporting putin in the elections since 2012 and is his permanent confidant. He is a member of the putin Team movement, which supports putin in the presidential election. In 2018, he was a confidant of Moscow mayoral candidate Sergei Sobyanin. Until January 2024, he was the author of his own YouTube channel, Bisogon, with an audience of 1.47 million subscribers. In his videos, he actively spreads propaganda narratives and disinformation about Ukraine. In January 2023, in response to the sanctions imposed on him, he published an open letter to members of the Council of the European Union, where he repeated the main myths and narratives of russian anti-Ukrainian propaganda and praised putin. He has repeatedly visited the temporarily occupied Crimea to participate in propaganda events in support of the war, as well as for commercial purposes. On March 4, 2022, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine arrested Mikhalkov in absentia and put him on the international wanted list "for encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine." He owns real estate in Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic.
